Final #1 Class 8 - Assignment #1

Hi Everyone,
For these assignments I was unable to find a windows computer that I was able to borrow. So I ended up downloading the free trial version of swift 3d. The thing with the free trial version is that I am unable to load the flash animations to this blog. I am however able to save the flash animations to my desktop. So if you would like to view the actual flash animations in motion you will have to access the file through my files on my bc account. For now i'm just uploading my progress screenshots so you can get an idea of what my animations look like and what kind of work I did. Please let me know if anyone else who used swift 3d was able to upload their actual flash animation and have it work on their blog.

Assignment 1 screen shots- https://wfs.bc.edu:443/lynchgp/Name%20number%201.t3d
The final flash animation is the top screen shot. My name spins and the hammer sort of spins and moves in all directions.

The final flash animation is the last one. I created a sphere shape, then added the world for the color. Then made is spin in a zig zag sort motion. I then adjusted the size, background color and a few other things.

-Assignment 3-https://wfs.bc.edu:443/lynchgp/Assignment%203%20class%208.t3d
For this assignment I chose a picture of Boston. I then scaled it down a bit, added background color. Then I used animation. It rolls into itself also blows up in and out.

Class 7, FINAL PREPARATION: Choosing a JavaScript programming track.

First I checked out Khan Academy. I found this pretty interesting. Khan Academy is computer programing. I started off with all the tutorials. You use different codes to create different shapes, sizes, colors, and so on. For example rectangle code would look like rect() and then in the parenthases you type different numbers to change the sizes. On thing I liked about Khan Academy is that you can see your work change as you go on the side screen.

Next I checked out a site called learn street. In this tutorial I learned how to create different variables. For example one reference could be myName. Then you can add a series of names. Then you could type myAge. You can do this with multiple names. Then say you want to find out Bobs age. You would type bobsAge. This then references to bobs age through the age variable that you created. Say Bob is 25. It will then show you he is 25. There are many other functions of learn street using variables, loops, strings, arrays, and more.

After that I checked out code academy. Code academy is a programing site that allows you to create websites using HTML. I found this site pretty easy to use at least so far. I also have learned a bit of HTML before so it wasn't all new to me. I like how you see on the site what everything looks like as you create your site. You use different <tags> </> open and closing. I found this slightly easier than using the notebook for html. I like the fact that you can see your progress, and spacing immediately.

Out of all three I found code academy the easiest for me. I think however this is because I already know HTML a bit. I liked the set up of Khan Academy. I think if I spent more time on it I might enjoy using it more. Learn Street I found the most difficult. Just personally am not used to this type of programing. Overall I liked code academy the most but If i spent more time with the other two I may change my opinion.

Roll Call for class 7

Class 7 exercise 2

This is what I made experimenting with the stroke tool. I made a series of shapes and then used the stroke tool. I changed the width of the lines as well as the colors. Used some solid colors and some gradient.

Above is an image I created using the paste into feature with gimp. I really liked this feature a lot. I used three different pictures of Boston and created different shapes. I then pasted into those shapes. Really like this tool a lot.

This is the image I created using the transparency opacity sliders in gimp. I used three different images and changed the transparency of each. You can see the darkest one is a tree with a moon, then an eye, and the last image is in the middles a bunch of different colors splashing upwards.

This is using different text along with different fonts. I then typed five different words. I then changed the transparency of each text box. All the words are the same color, just different transparency levels.

These are the two scaled images from my midterm 7. The first one I scaled down equally. The second one I did by more or less guessing. As you can see the images are slightly different. The aspect ration varies.

Midterm #4

This is my midterm #4. I used cloud party Henge room to create this greeting care. First I pressed o twice to get a shot of myself from the front. Opened the image in Gimp and added a few greeting lines. Also cropped the image. It is a midterm exercise from the Immersive Education course that I am taking at Boston College. Midterm #8

 Touched UP

Original

This is my midterm number 8. In this miderm I used a headshot of myself and edited in gimp. I mainly used the blur and smudge tools. I smudge out a lot of my face. Tried to get rid of the hair. It looks strange in certain parts. It is a midterm exercise from the Immersive Education course that I am taking at Boston College. The course is called Discovering Computer Graphics. Midterm # 7

This is my midterm #7. For this midterm I used a picture of Ricky Gervais (a celebrity). I followed all the steps accordingly using gimp shop. First creating the eyes, then banner.... I used many different layers to create the final image.

Roll Call 2

Class 6, step 4 part 3 GIMP BITMAP

THIS IS my final susan b anthony coin using gimp. I first rescaled then decided to trace the susan b anthony coin. I think it came out much better than my previous coins. I got this tip from Andrew I think at the end of the last class. I wanted to try it out think it came out great. Thanks for the tips

Class 6, step 4 part 3 word vector graphics

This is my final result using microsoft word. Not the best looking susan b anthony replica but I only had 30 minutes to complete. I tried matching the color the best I could but found myself spending too much time on small details like that.
